I would say: don't get discouraged. Your blog is probably being found primarily by debtor's using Google. Maybe you'll have a better experience if you (a) do some SEO so you attract more attorneys to your audience (b) turn off the comments. Best wishes!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30937069.post-36781589445761372832008-01-28T15:45:00.000-06:002008-01-28T15:45:00.000-06:00I found your blog when I was trying to find out wh...I found your blog when I was trying to find out what the state laws regarding aged debt were. I had the experience of a 15-year-old debt that was long-since forgotten about come back to haunt me (Sears, btw). I found the information you presented on how to proceed very helpful and informative, and greatly appreciated.

I don't know if you'll continue or not, but I did want you to know that even some of us who aren't professionals found your site very helpful.

Regards,

David in MaineAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30937069.post-49750594404297937402007-10-06T20:36:00.000-05:002007-10-06T20:36:00.000-05:00I for one enjoy the blog and am sorry you mostly h...I for one enjoy the blog and am sorry you mostly hear from people insulting you. I apparently am one of the few who got into debt and have worked diligently to repay what I owe. However, I have encountered a number of collection agencies and law firms that have no idea what the FDCPA mandates. I disagree with you when you stated in an earlier post that the FDCPA has no teeth. It most certainly does. I have invoked my rights under the FDCPA and I've never had a problem with any collection agency after doing so. Of course, it certainly helps that I've taken the time to educate myself and there are a wealth of sites, such as this, that provide accurate information. The overwhelming majority of people I've met on line are like me and want to repay their debts. Apparently you've had the misfortune of dealing with common trash who have no sense of moral obligation. It is unfortunate that the collection industry as a whole is rife with less than reputable agencies and law firms. It's given a bad name to those that obey the law and make the effort to recover a valid debt. For those that have incurred a valid debt and refuse to repay it, I believe they'll get what they deserve. For those of us that are repaying their debts, the collection agencies and law firms using unlawful tactics will get what they deserve.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30937069.post-11984779538947570892007-08-15T20:55:00.000-05:002007-08-15T20:55:00.000-05:00Right or wrong, knowing the requirement of proof i...Right or wrong, knowing the requirement of proof is information not incredibly easy to find. Seems to be the rules change. I was under the impression in the past after seven years the unfiled case had to be removed from reports. Now there are organizations who do nothing except take the risk of buying debt at pennies on the dollar, already written off by the original lender, and see if they can turn a quick dollar.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30937069.post-51322504952344573642007-08-13T17:14:00.000-05:002007-08-13T17:14:00.000-05:00I have to say, I found your blog quite by accident...I have to say, I found your blog quite by accident, but it has helped me! My husband and I are having a HECK of a time with an old debt that has been SO screwed up, that no one really knows what is going on. We have paid on this for 18 years and the one honest creditor that called, told me that there IS something wrong with our acct, and she would get back with me, then never did. Then suddenly we are in collections. We are onto our 3rd creditor party now and NONE of them are willing to help us. We do NOT want to default on the bill, and we have worked our TAILS off paying off EVERYTHING else! But I won't pay $4K of stuff we didn't buy. So your blog has helped me ONE, learn what I need to do, and TWO keep me motivated to make sure no other debt gets out of hand. I'm SURE you are not REALLY the spawn of satan, himself, and I am a little disgusted to know there are so many smarmy people out there who just want an easy out for their debt! Those people have a lot of nerve calling YOU names! In all honesty, let it do your head and fingers some good to know that you really ARE helping some NON-smarmy people in Blog-World. Now to just get down to the bottom of my Sears problem....sighSnow Queenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18244154918860460858noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30937069.post-2867573673983932452007-08-13T15:32:00.000-05:002007-08-13T15:32:00.000-05:00My boss and I are just starting a collection agenc...My boss and I are just starting a collection agency cum lawyer debt recovery office.
